It’s been a busy year for OnePlus with all its new phones being launched. The company has already released 3 smartphones this year (the 8, 8 Pro, and Nord), its first-ever truly wireless earbuds (the OnePlus Buds), and plans on releasing possibly 2 more mid-range smartphones (code-named “Clover” and “Billie“). OnePlus is now set to launch another flagship smartphone which is rumoured to be an extension of the T – series, the OnePlus 8T. The latest Android 11 developer preview for OnePlus 8-series was found to contain an image of an upcoming phone – the OnePlus 8T.

The latest Android 11 developer preview for OnePlus 8-series was found to contain an image of an upcoming phone – the OnePlus 8T. The render reveals the front which looks identical to the OnePlus 8 with a punch-hole cutout in the top left corner and a flat display. The image in the software build is titled as OnePlus_8T.webp and comes from the About Phone section.

In addition to the render, we also get a glimpse of the reworked Game Space menus in both landscape and portrait mode as well as hints about 8K video support for upcoming devices from the OnePlus Camera app. The report adds that OnePlus8T may come with a new Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset and camera upgrades including a 64 MP main camera. The OnePlus T could also have a 120Hz refresh-rate display, the report states.

The leaked image is just a front facing view of the device which barely reveals anything since most phones from the front are mostly just screen and what is more enticing is at the back which is obviously the camera. So there is still a lot to speculate. But given the timing of the leak and the fact that it was found in OnePlus’ own firmware update, it seems likely that this will be what the OnePlus 8T will look like. A launch will be held in the few coming weeks. What can be ascertained is that this is what the front is going to look like and the phone is going to be a slightly better version of the OnePlus 8 because the T update avoids making drastic changes to it’s smartphones. Presumably, OnePlus will have more details to announce on the OnePlus 8T in the coming weeks, likely in a more official manner than an accidental firmware file.

With OnePlus being one of the companies which is very close to competing in the big leagues, the launch will definitely something to look forward to. OnePlus fans are eagerly waiting since OnPlus has saved its best for last.  Given the timing of the leak, we can expect the company to host the OnePlus 8T launch in the coming weeks. However, it won’t be a surprise if OnePlus delays the launch by a month or two considering the current global situation. The phone’s price can be estimated to be slightly higher than the price of the OnePlus 8 during its launch which brings it to around Rs. 45,000.
